Filipino-owned fuel company Cleanfuel has partnered with startup venture Voltai to power the future of electric mobility in the Philippines. Voltai officially introduced itself and its inaugural two-wheeled electric vehicle, the AP01, to industry leaders and fleet operators during an exclusive event held at a Cleanfuel station in Pasig City.

The event featured a battery swapping station and a mobile application that allowed invited participants—from logistics, food and beverage delivery, and ride-hailing companies—to experience firsthand Voltai’s two-wheel battery swap ecosystem, the first of its kind at this scale in the country.

Guests had the opportunity to test ride the AP01 and use the app, powered by Google Maps, to monitor the unit’s battery health, location, and performance. They also experienced swapping a depleted battery for a fully charged one in just minutes—a game-changing alternative to the lengthy traditional EV charging process.

Currently in its pilot stage, Voltai has already partnered with Cleanfuel and MyTown, a co-living and dormitory brand, to deploy 15 battery swapping stations across their locations. The company aims to expand its network next year across Metro Manila and nearby provinces, along with establishing strong after-sales support.

“The Voltai pilot preview marks the first step toward building the future of fleet e-mobility in the Philippines—smarter, cleaner, and more cost-efficient,” said Fazlur Abdul Rahman, Head of Ideation at 1882 Energy Ventures and Voltai Co-founder and CEO. “As a business-to-business solution, it addresses downtime, frequent maintenance, and fuel cost challenges for fleet operators while providing remote visibility on utilization.”

Voltai’s business model involves leasing its EVs and batteries at a fixed rate—helping businesses avoid rising vehicle prices and fuel costs while enabling them to scale cleaner, more sustainable fleets with lower emissions and reduced maintenance expenses.

“We are very excited to bring Voltai to the Philippine market and provide businesses with fleet requirements a competitive edge through lower costs, higher efficiency, and reduced emissions—without the burden of high upfront costs,” Rahman added.

Voltai is a startup under 1882 Energy Ventures, a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation, dedicated to driving the decarbonization and decentralization of the energy landscape in the Philippines and beyond.
